Adventures!!

I was an adventurous little tyke when I was around peepers age.
I remember one time when I was out in the back yard and I think the phone rang. Mom told me to stay there while she ran in. Well, I of course had other plans being left out in the great beyond by myself. You see I just loved my great grandma and grandpa and I loved to visit with them. They didn't live too far, maybe about 6 or 7 blocks away.
All I had to do was open the gate and I would be in the alley. Task one: Accomplished. This would cut a half block out of my journey. I proceeded down the alley and turned left onto the sidewalk of St. I made it to the crosswalk and onto the next block. I think I made my way past a couple houses I am not quite sure how many, before I was in front of my great, great-aunts house. She stopped me and offered me some cookies. Of course my answer was yes. The next thing I recall was eating my cookies with my mom frantically coming to get me...hehe. Oh how I thrived to be left alone in the back yard again.

A: Our house
B: Great Gramma & Grampa
Somewhere in the circle is where I ended up

And the 'Adventures' haven't stopped! I can remember quite a few more...that I know of! Why do you think I'm always 'stressed'.

And now that you have read your book...what about that garage? ;>)

How funny! I can only imagine your mom's heart being in her throat! You little vagabond you!

When my son was three, he opened the gate somehow and the dog got out...my son followed the dog, calling him, but this dog didn't run away, he liked to stay about 10 steps in front of you..so you couldn't get him. My son waddled after that dog for a mile and a half! Luckily someone grabbed the dog and my son, my phone # was on his tag! whew!

I am longing for those days of yester year when we could do things like that and still survive...I was a lot like that when I was little too.

Oh Yeah! I knew we were kindred spirits, lol. I was a wanderer too. Did you get beaten with a *switch*? Okay nevermind. That was probably just me.

That's horrible! Your poor mom. And now I can say I did the very same thing. I took my younger brother (perhaps 4 at the time?) to a playground about 7 or 8 blocks away. In the evening/dusk hours. I cannot even imagine what that did to my parents. I should probably go buy them a big fat gift today.

I still do that shit. Adventures are great. Did you get in trouble? Luckily our kids don't do that...they ALWAYS ask if they can go somewhere.

Can you IMAGINE if Peepers disappeared like that? My hair would go white overnight.

After reading your mom's comment, I can't help but think that the adventures were much more "hair raising" once you go older......

Bad girl!

Sue: What actually made me write this was I actually couldn't find Peepers outside. I knew the gate was still locked and our dog didn't go into back off mode of barking so I was stumped and freaking. After a couple minutes I found her though, INSIDE!!!

BHE: Me, I have been an angel since..haha

LOL Philly: I've done that too!!!

I mentioned this to mom on Saturday and she said I got in trouble, I told her I didn't remember getting into trouble and she said maybe you didn't but I did. NICE save there mom. Maybe I chose to block that.... haha.

My, you WERE the little traveler. I remember my mom always saying that I wasn't allowed to go farther than where I could hear her yell for me. I can't believe even that was OK. I wouldn't want to be screaming for my kids at the top of my lungs. Then again, it was a different time, I guess.
